"I am the way, the truth, and the life." -Jesus

DEATH

Whoever lives by believing in me will never die.

-John 11:26a

What happens when I die

Q1: Is there an afterlife?
A: Yes there is an afterlife. When you die, your physical body stops living, but your soul remains alive and conscious. You will be able to see and hear things outside of space and time.

Q2: What does the afterlife look like?
A: The Bible says the afterlife will begin at the throne of God. We will all be judged for whatever we did in this life, whether good or bad. Read more about what God's throne room looks like in Chapter 20 of Revelation.

Q3: Can I come back from the afterlife?
A: While there are some accounts of people dying and coming back to life, these accounts are miraculous and rare. The Bible tells us that "each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment" (Hebrews 9:27).

Q4: Will God let me into heaven when I die?
A: God has prepared a place in heaven for all who are saved. If you are saved, you will be welcomed into heaven after death.

Q5: How am I saved?
A: "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved" (from Acts 16:31). Anyone who believes that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died on the cross to forgive sinners will stop living in sin (repent). If you believe in Jesus, you will repent of sins and be saved.

Q6: How can I be SURE I am saved?
A: When you truly believe in Jesus, God's Holy Spirit will live in you. The Holy Spirit helps you know God's will so you can make right choices and live righteously. You can be SURE you are saved, because (1) God will never break his promise to save those who believe in Christ (Numbers 23:19), and (2) your habits, desires, and lifestyle will change after truly becoming a Christian (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Q7: Does everyone go to heaven?
A: Not everyone goes to heaven after death. Anyone who does not believe in Jesus will go to hell in the afterlife.

Q8: Who is in hell?
A: Hell is full of people who never trusted Jesus to forgive them of sins. We are all sinners from the moment our mothers conceive us (Psalm 51:5, Romans 5:18-19). Therefore, we are all hell-bound until we repent and confess Jesus as Lord. If you are agnostic (not sure what you believe), you will not go to heaven. You must choose to believe in Jesus.

Q9: I'm a good person. Will God let me into heaven?
A: If you want to enter heaven based on your own merit, you must be perfect. The Bible teaches that "whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it" (James 2:10). Jesus is the only perfect person. To enter heaven, you must give your life to Jesus. Then God will credit Christ's righteousness to you.

Q10: Can I be reincarnated?
A: People are not reincarnated. We live once on earth and then forever in heaven or hell.

Q11: Is there another afterlife besides heaven or hell (like purgatory)?
A: After you die, you will go to heaven or hell. There is nowhere else to go.

Q12: Is it too late to get saved after I die?
A: Once you die, you cannot receive forgiveness for your sins. You must trust in Jesus before it is too late. (See Luke 16:19-31 for the story of a man who wanted to change after he died, but it was too late.)

Q13: Will God really send anyone to hell forever?
A: Sin is worse than any of us realize. God really will punish unrepentant sinners in hell forever: "And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night" (Revelation 14:11a).
