Our First Revival
Last night was the first session of our first ever revival at Real Life Church. Pastor Bill Hunt from Grace Fellowship Church brought a powerful message about the need for each of us to personally commit to being revived, if our church is going to experience revival. Pastor Bill reflected on what it means to be revived. Let’s recap for a moment some of what we learned.
Revival means: “an instance of something becoming popular, active, or important again”; or “a restoration to bodily or mental vigor, to life or consciousness, or to sporting success”. A revival stands in contrast to a reset. We are not expecting to return to our original state or function, but rather to experience restored vigor as we make Jesus centrally important again.
True revival is not about an emotional experience. Our emotions will fade, often by the time we reach the back doors of the church auditorium. True revival is fueled by the Holy Spirit! Each person who really has trusted Jesus for salvation has the Holy Spirit living inside them. That’s the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. The Spirit wants to empower us to live for Jesus, but to experience that power, we have to deny ourselves. We can’t hold onto our sin, and expect the Spirit to do much through us.
If you are longing to experience renewed vitality in your walk with Jesus, come participate in the remainder of our revival services.
